Knowledge Base
Why bingo uses numbers 1–75
Standard bingo in Japan uses a 5×5 card with 15 numbers per column (the "75-ball" format), so drawn numbers range from 1 to 75.
- Number ranges per column:In a 75-ball card, column B has 1–15, I has 16–30, N has 31–45, G has 46–60, and O has 61–75.
- Difference from 90-ball bingo:90-ball bingo, played in the UK and elsewhere, uses numbers 1–90 and a 3×9 card—a different format from 75-ball bingo.
How to run a bingo event
A bingo event proceeds as the host draws and calls numbers, and participants mark matching squares on their cards.
- Reach:Reach is when four squares in a row (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal) are marked, needing just one more for bingo.
- Bingo:Bingo is when all five squares in a row (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal) are marked, and that player announces it immediately.
