What is Whois
Whois is a public database system that allows you to query registration information (registrant, registration date, expiration date, name servers, etc.) for domain names and IP addresses. It is a fundamental tool for investigating domain ownership and details.
What is RDAP
RDAP is a standardized query protocol that succeeds Whois. It returns results as structured data (JSON), making it easier for machine processing, and support is expanding across various registries.
Safety and Privacy
Server-side processing
Input is processed on the server; only information necessary for the inquiry is sent.
Temporary processing only
For Whois/RDAP queries, temporary processing occurs on the server, then data is discarded after results are returned.
Communications encrypted with HTTPS
All sent and received data is encrypted by TLS and cannot be read by third parties.
No transmission to third parties
Input content is not sent to external services such as ad networks or trackers.
Transmission to inquiry servers only
Input queries are sent to Whois/RDAP registries for inquiry purposes only.
