Basics
Bingo card number range
Standard bingo cards in Japan are 5×5 grids (25 squares) using the 75-ball format, with 15 numbers per column assigned to each column.
- B and I columns:Column B contains 5 non-repeating numbers from 1–15, and column I contains 5 non-repeating numbers from 16–30.
- N column:Column N contains numbers from 31–45, with only 4 numbers on center-free cards (because the center square is pre-marked FREE).
- G and O columns:Column G contains 5 non-repeating numbers from 46–60, and column O contains 5 non-repeating numbers from 61–75.
What is center free?
Center free (FREE) is a rule where the middle square is pre-marked as already matched. The four lines through the center—vertical, horizontal, and both diagonals—need only 4 matching numbers to win instead of 5.
How many possible bingo card patterns are there?
For 75-ball bingo cards, there are approximately 5.5×10²⁶ possible arrangements with center free, and approximately 6.1×10²⁷ without center free.
- Partial number overlap:Different cards often share some numbers, so multiple players can win simultaneously when the same number is called.
