Basic Knowledge

Probability of Dice Rolls

The probability of each face on a 6-sided die is 1 in 6 (approximately 16.7%). When rolling two dice, the sum varies by combination. The most common result, 7, has a probability of 6 in 36 (approximately 16.7%), while the least common results, 2 and 12, each have a probability of 1 in 36 (approximately 2.8%).

Dice Notation (2d6, etc.)

Dice notation is a way of writing dice rolls used in TRPGs and similar games, written as "number of dice" d "number of faces." For example, 2d6 means rolling two 6-sided dice. The standard set includes six types: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20.
