Knowledge Base

Tips for faster tapping

Your tap speed depends on finger technique, hand positioning, and pacing throughout the duration.

  • Tap lightly with small movements:Tensing your fingers and wrist makes movements stiff. Keep your finger close to the button and use small, quick movements to increase tap frequency.
  • Alternate between two fingers:On touchscreens, alternating between two fingers like your index and middle finger lets you tap faster than using one finger alone.
  • Pace yourself for the duration:Longer durations like 30 or 60 seconds cause fatigue and slower tapping. Maintain a steady rhythm from the start rather than going all-out immediately to maximize your tap count.

Why CPS varies by duration

CPS (clicks per second) is your total taps divided by the duration. Longer durations lead to fatigue and slower tapping in the later seconds, so the same person typically has lower CPS in longer tests.

  • Compare at the same duration:If you tap 70 times in 10 seconds, your CPS is 7.00. When comparing with others or your past scores, use the same duration to get accurate comparisons.
