Difference Between Username and Account Name
On most social media platforms, you can set a unique username (ID) used for login and URLs separately from a freely chosen account name (display name) shown on your profile. Only the username cannot be duplicated with other users.
Characters Allowed in Usernames
Allowed characters vary by service, but alphanumeric characters and underscores (_) are nearly universal. Whether periods or hyphens are allowed and character limits differ depending on the service. It's best to check the rules of your target platform before acquiring a username.
What is Leet Conversion
Leet is a playful writing style in English-speaking communities where alphabetic characters are replaced with visually similar numbers, with a→4, e→3, i→1, o→0 being the most common substitutions. While it becomes harder to read, it gives your ID a distinctive character and is useful for creating alternatives when your desired ID is already taken.
